Protection that does not need a workshop behind it
On a remote terminal, a mine site or an inland pipeline, the constraint is rarely the material. It is whether the work can be done at all with the plant, the power and the crew that are actually on site. Cold-applied wrapping is chosen because it asks for almost nothing.
What the job does not require
Every item below is equipment, infrastructure or a licence that a conventional recoating job needs and this one does not.
| Not required | Why that matters on a remote site |
|---|---|
| Abrasive blasting plant | St2 hand or power tool preparation is sufficient in the applications stated on the data sheet. No compressor, no abrasive supply chain, no containment or spent-media disposal |
| Hot work permit | Nothing is heated and no flame is used, so work proceeds in permit-controlled and live areas without a hot work authorisation |
| Curing schedule or weather window | The detail is finished when the last layer is applied. No overcoating interval, no dew point calculation, no waiting |
| Specialist applicator crew | Application is by brush and gloved hand at a stated overlap. Ordinary trained site labour can do it, and we support the first application |
| Full replacement to repair | The wrap can be cut open, the steel inspected and the detail re-wrapped locally, without recoating the surrounding area |
Material that survives the journey and the store
Long lead times and difficult inland transport punish materials with short pot lives and two-part mixing. These systems have neither. They are supplied as rolls, pails and blocks, they are single-component, and there is nothing to mix, meter or catalyse on site.
Roll widths, roll lengths and carton quantities are configured to order, so a shipment can be built around the details you actually maintain rather than around a standard pack. Where a distributor holds stock, the same range covers tank edges, buried valves, pipe racks and marine steel — one set of shelf space instead of four suppliers.
Export, OEM and distribution termsComponent, not two
Nothing to mix and no induction time. What arrives on site is what goes on the steel.
Material technologies, one supplier
Petrolatum, viscoelastic, microcrystalline wax and polyolefin tape are normally four separate vendors and four qualification exercises.
Where these systems go
Oil terminals and export lines
Tank annular plates, manifolds, loading lines and jetty steel on West and North African terminals.
Mining and processing plant
Pipe racks, slurry and utility lines and structural steel in humid, chemically loaded industrial atmospheres.
Water and gas distribution
Buried valves, chambers and field joints where excavation access is the expensive part and the repair has to last.
How can a pipeline or tank repair work with limited site infrastructure?
A corrosion protection supplier for Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa, Morocco, Kenya or Ghana needs to answer the logistics question as well as the materials question: what can the local crew install, inspect and document?
Can the job run without blasting plant?
For the applications stated on the relevant data sheet, St2 hand or power-tool preparation can be used instead of abrasive blasting. Confirm the substrate condition, preparation standard and acceptance inspection before work starts.
How should materials be handled in transit?
Rolls, pails and blocks are single-component materials with no on-site mixing or induction time. Share the destination, climate, storage space and planned work sequence so the shipment can be configured around the actual maintenance schedule.
Review export and distribution terms →Which assets are usually in scope?
Typical enquiries cover tank annular plates, buried valves, pipeline field joints, pipe racks and marine steel. Include access, available crew, quantity, operating temperature and any local tender or HSE requirement in the first message.
Send a remote-site enquiry →Tell us what is on site, not what is ideal
Send the asset condition, the access, the crew available and the quantity. We will propose a configuration that can actually be installed there, and support the first application.
