PE and PP Fibre-Reinforced Pipeline Tape

Bitumen-adhesive polyolefin tapes for buried steel pipelines and fittings. Both work in two roles — as the primary corrosion protection wrap and as a protective outer wrap over another system — and both are supplied with the matching modified bitumen primer.

PE Anti-Corrosion Tape

A pipeline wrapping tape manufactured from a roughened low-pressure high-density polyethylene film backing and a modified bituminous rubber adhesive, combined by a solvent-free co-extrusion hot-lamination process.

PP Fibre-Reinforced Anti-Corrosion Tape

A mechanically reinforced tape using a modified polypropylene mesh-reinforced woven fibre backing and a high-tack butyl rubber / polyisobutylene-modified bitumen adhesive, combined by hot lamination.

Pipeline tape selection

PE or PP pipeline tape: which one should be specified?

Both products are bitumen-adhesive polyolefin wraps for buried steel, but the project geometry, soil stress and required reinforcement should decide the selection—not the material name alone.

PE anti-corrosion tape

Use the PE tape where a continuous buried pipeline wrap or field-joint repair is required and the standard thickness, width and roll-length options fit the job. It is supplied with the matching modified-bitumen primer.

PP fibre-reinforced tape

Use the PP mesh-reinforced tape where additional mechanical reinforcement is important, such as severe backfill or a repair that needs a stronger outer layer. Confirm the required overlap and outer protection in the method statement.

For a coating repair, not new wrap? If the existing 3PE or FBE coating is locally failed, compare the viscoelastic system as well. Send the pipe diameter, field-joint condition, soil and temperature so the final configuration can be checked against the relevant TDS and test report.
